This year, we entered Europe’s exclusive legal playoffs and were honored to be shortlisted for The Lawyer European Awards in two competitive categories, of which one is Europe-wide:
These two playoff entries are doubly remarkable as they make us the only law firm from the region to be repeatedly nominated in multiple categories, years on end.
We are especially honored to have our work and many successes in EU law/ competition and antitrust law recognized at the very highest European level.
In this very competitive area, Gecić Law showed again it could punch above its weight and be considered among only five firms for an award, on par with household names of global Big Law such as Latham & Watkins LLP (Google transaction) and Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP (Fried Frank) as well as major regional names such as AEQUO from Ukraine and SRS Advogados from Portugal.
Gecić Law made a name for itself in EU Law, competition and antitrust not only through the size of our team, which is the largest in the Balkans, but also through major successes, including our pioneering work for Etihad Airways/ Air Serbia; representing the National Bar Association; reinvigorating the Serbian Menarini; and for advising and representing the Republic of Serbia in a landmark EU law proceedings against the country before the European Commission, which was awarded second place in continental Europe last year by the The Lawyer’s panel in the European competition or antitrust deal of the year category.
Our repeated entry into this champions league in two categories, especially as the only firm from the this part of Europe to achieve such distinction, is a major recognition for a law firm like Gecić Law, which is operating at the spear-tip of the global standards in a fast developing Serbian and Wester Balkan markets. The Lawyer European Awards are the oldest pan/European awards for law firms and legal minds that have been recognizing the greatest achievements in the continent’s legal world for over a decade. The shortlist is drawn up by the top legal minds and business leaders, who were tasked to pick the top “among over 200+ submissions from 135+ firms showcasing the best legal work from across Europe“. The awards ceremony is a traditional gathering of the most distinguished leaders in the European legal world, and this year, due to the pandemic, the ceremony will be held virtually on Tuesday 1 December 2020 at 2pm GMT to host over 300 attendees from over 120 firms and celebrate 27 winners taking home a prestigious trophy!
