We are delighted to announce that the application process for the Taboroši Scholarship 2024 is now open! This scholarship, awarded for the seventh time this year, was established in memory of Professor Svetislav Taboroši. The Taboroši Scholarship offers talented students a unique opportunity to enhance their knowledge and begin their professional journey in the exciting field of business and economic law.
The Taboroši Scholarship is the first of its kind at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade. It was designed to encourage scientific research among students and provide support in their professional development. The scholarship was initiated by Professor Taboroši’s former students, who wish to preserve his legacy and support young lawyers eager to shape the future of this branch of law. In addition to a substantial cash prize of 2,000 EUR, selected candidates will have the opportunity to undertake professional practice at Gecić Law, working with experienced lawyers specialized in business law.
Professor Dr. Svetislav Taboroši was a pioneer in researching the legal regulation of economic systems and reforming scientific research in Serbia. His passion for education and contribution to legislation, through his work on the Consumer Protection Law and other reforms, left a deep mark on the legal community. Throughout his 42-year career, he taught Economic Law and delivered numerous guest lectures at prestigious universities, including NYU Stern Business School, University of Bridgeport, and Central European University. His dedication to students and encouragement of original research continues to serve as an everlasting model for future lawyers.
The call is open to students who have enrolled in their fourth year of undergraduate studies at state law faculties in Serbia for the first time in 2024 and have achieved an average grade of at least 8.5 by the June exam period of 2024.
Candidates should submit the required documentation and an essay on the topic: “Procedural Aspects of Competition Infringement Proceedings in the Republic of Serbia and Its (Non-)Compliance with the Legal Framework of the European Union” by November 17. After that, a committee composed of Taboroši family members, professors, and lawyers will review the papers and invite shortlisted candidates for an interview.
