Last year, Gecić Law was shortlisted with only six other firms for the “Law firm of the year: Eastern Europe and the Balkans” by London’s The Lawyer, one of the leading global publishers in the legal industry.
We are delighted and proud to announce that this year, not only have we again been selected as one of only seven firms in all of Eastern Europe and the Balkans to be shortlisted but, more importantly, we have also been nominated for the coveted “European competition and antitrust deal of the year”.
This places Gecić Law as the only Balkans law firm to be nominated for two “The Lawyer European Awards 2019”, an honor that to the best of our knowledge has never before been bestowed on any other firm from the region.
The recognition is awarded by a panel of 29 judges – legal industry leaders coming from the world’s most renowned law firms and companies such as Facebook, Herbert Smith Freehills, Coca-Cola, Santander and others.
The weight of these achievements is even greater as our work in competition and antitrust is recognized as groundbreaking in the whole of Europe. We operate from Belgrade, the commercial hub of the Western Balkans, but are able to serve clients from any corner of the globe through our membership of the most prestigious legal networks, Terralex and TagLaw.
We take pride in our team of lawyers and their excellence. Being nominated for these awards is a testament to the commitment we have towards our clients and to the legal profession through creativity, innovation and excellence. This extraordinary achievement places Gecić Law in the club of the best and leading law firms across Europe.
“We have had a wonderful and dynamic year, tackling new legal challenges and providing high-end solutions to our clients. We are proud to have kept the position as one of the leaders in the region and, after being recognized throughout Europe, I have to commend our great team for all the diligent work during 2018. Congratulations to everyone again!” said Bogdan Gecić, the managing partner.
Among other matters in 2018, Gecić Law successfully advised the Government of Serbia in the Energy Community dispute with EPS and Serbia over the Kolubara B Project, successfully represented the National Bar Association in the investigation commenced by the Serbian National Competition Authority and assisted EPS, the leading regional energy distribution operator, in having the largest fine in Serbian competition law annulled.
Serving the public and the rule of law, we have continued our advocacy for a significantly improved and equitable antitrust framework, which was previously commended not only by all the nation’s champions of industry, but also the Brussels competition community and the Energy Community in Vienna.
The Lawyer European Awards ceremony will take place on March 19, 2019 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, bringing together more than 350 managing and senior partners from the whole continent to celebrate the industry’s best law firms, landmark deals and outstanding individuals.
We take this opportunity to thank all of our clients for placing their trust in us and we congratulate all the other shortlisted firms and wish them the best of luck in March.
