Gecić Law is proud to have been a co-editor and the exclusive contributor for Serbia for the CEE Legal Matters Comparative Legal Guide: Corporate Governance 2023. The guide looks at regulations and industry standards that govern the operations of a corporation, as well as the legal responsibilities and obligations of the corporation’s management and board of directors. Additionally, it looks at the oversight and enforcement of these laws and regulations by government agencies and regulatory bodies.
In the guide’s introductory foreword, counsel Branko Gabrić, explains, “On the one hand, corporate governance is essential as it is about controlling risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enabling the decision-making process based on viable criteria, which is crucial to achieving objectives. Good corporate governance practices can reconcile and define the relationship between stakeholders, owners, and management of a company and, therefore, permanently influence the company’s operations. On the other hand, some see the framework as a bottleneck of regular business flows, discouraging entrepreneurial spirit and reducing flexibility.”
Associate Žarko Popović contributed to the guide providing exclusive insight and a comprehensive overview of the legal framework and practical application of the corporate governance principles in Serbia.
CEE Legal Matters Managing Editor Radu Cotarcea said, “We were delighted to involve Gecić Law in this comparative guide and would like to thank them for taking the time to share their insights.”
