Our Founding Partner Bogdan Gecić was honored to deliver the keynote address at the Opening Plenary Session of the EducationUSA Europe and Eurasia Forum, which was held in Belgrade from September 19-21.
The opening session of the forum was attended by numerous dignitaries, high-ranking officials, members of the diplomatic community and representatives of US institutions of higher education and EducationUSA from across the two continents. Bogdan was joined by H.E. Christopher R. Hill, U.S. Ambassador to Serbia, and Branko Ružić, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, who also delivered their opening remarks at the event.
Bogdan’s unconventional and inspired speech reflected on his personal experiences from his studies in the US and highlighted the true benefits of his unique journey. This captured the attention of Euronews Serbia, who singled out Bogdan’s experience and included a notable section of his address both in their TV and online reports from the event. They quoted Bogdan, saying:
“My time in the States was probably the most transformative, watershed moment that changed my life forever. It doesn’t come as a surprise that I strongly believe the U.S. higher education experience is second to none. The values and skills I gained through U.S. education and the experience of life and work in the U.S., and at a U.S law firm, have been key factors in shaping my entire career.”
The highlight of this year’s EducationUSA Europe and Eurasia Forum is the U.S. Higher Education Fair which was open to the public and introduced students in Serbia to more than 50 American universities and organizations operating in the U.S. and around the world.
EducationUSA is a U.S. Department of State network of over 430 international student advising centers in more than 175 countries and territories. The network promotes U.S. higher education to students around the world by offering accurate, comprehensive, and current information about opportunities to study at accredited postsecondary institutions in the United States. EducationUSA also provides services to the U.S. higher education community to help institutional leaders meet their recruitment and campus internationalization goals.
