We recently won the Oscars of the legal world! Gecić Law was named the top legal firm in the 150-million-strong SEE market at The Lawyer European Awards 2021, which places our firm among the crème de la crème of the European legal market. Gecić Law was the only law firm from the former Yugoslavia and the Western Balkans to be shortlisted for the award and the first firm ever to be awarded the coveted prize in the new category covering the dynamic regional market.
The news of the award going to a Belgrade-based firm sparked significant interest. During the past week, our Founding Partner Bogdan Gecić spoke with a number of prominent media outlets about the award, the development of the firm and the future of the legal profession in the region.
Bogdan underlined the award clearly demonstrates that renowned international legal experts and industry leaders comprising the preeminent judging panel recognized the strength of our pioneering work. The experts, hailing from some of the most famous multinationals, including Starbucks, GSK and Hugo Boss, also acknowledged our relentless efforts to provide top-notch service across markets and practice areas underlining our fundamental values: meritocracy, innovation, integrity, and philanthropy.
“It is an incredible honor to be repeatedly singled out among the crème de la crème of the legal world, and to be the first to win in a new category covering a fast-growing market of 150 million people is a remarkable new achievement for our team. And we achieved all this just a year after being anointed Law firm of the year: Eastern Europe and the Balkans. We have also been shortlisted multiple times in the European competition or antitrust team of the year – Top Five category, where we competed neck and neck with some of the best competition and antitrust teams from the whole of Europe. Gecić Law also stands out as by far the largest team for EU law and competition law in the region. We are the only regional firm that has represented clients before international institutions such as the European Commission, the Energy Community, the ECAA (Open Skies) and CEFTA“, Bogdan said.
Bogdan also discussed the importance of innovation for corporate law in the region, stressing it should always be in tune with economic and technological developments. He also emphasized the importance of EU law and international trade in addressing economic and legal issues in the region.
