In addition to his success in M&A and Governance, Ognjen also ranks in Environment & Climate Change practice. He stands as the only lawyer from the jurisdiction to receive this honor. This distinction highlights Ognjen’s profound impact on the field of Environmental Law. As Co-head of ESG at Gecić Law, Ognjen has played a pivotal role in shaping this innovative practice. He has advised clients on navigating the increasingly complex regulatory environment in the field. Ognjen has also led some of the most remarkable projects in renewable energy. Moreover, he has actively contributed to shaping the regulatory frameworks of the region. His efforts in these domains have positioned Gecić Law as a pioneer.
Ognjen has headed the firm’s Corporate/M&A practice since its early stages after he joined the legal team at Gecić Law in 2016. With nearly two decades of experience, Ognjen has led numerous high-profile projects. These include energy, mining, ICT, TMT, automotive, transport and retail sectors. Global directories have consistently recognized his contributions to the legal landscape. Legal 500 has acknowledged him as a Leading Individual and his team as one of the major players in this field for many years. In addition, Chambers and Partners distinguishes him as one of the leading corporate and commercial law lawyers. The Who’s Who Legal rankings further validate Ognjen’s expertise in these areas. These accolades are another prestigious recognition of his continuous pursuit of excellence.
Ognjen also actively contributes to diverse discussions and often speaks about trending legal topics. Among his numerous activities, he recently took part in the first AI Masterclass, a pioneering event dedicated to this emerging field of law, where he spoke about responsibility and accountability in the era of AI. Other events include a Forum Media ESG workshop, the Winter Vivaldi Forum, the seminar titled “Who Does Gen Z Want to Work For?” in cooperation with ManpowerGroup and the 4th Serbian Public Private Partnership Conference, held under the auspices of the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia.
Furthermore, Ognjen is a frequent contributor to specialized legal publications. His recent piece on infrastructure development and PPP opportunities in Serbia in CEE Legal Matters garnered much attention. He was also recently invited by Lawyer Monthly to discuss a major multijurisdictional M&A project in an interview for the publication. He is among the few lawyers from the region who have been quoted in international media, including Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and the World Bank recognizes him as a leading legal expert and a regular contributor to their publications. Ognjen also regularly contributes to the educational efforts of the Responsible Business Forum aimed at small and medium businesses. He is well known for being a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Law, where he discusses issues of M&A and investment.
Ognjen also leads Gecić Law’s international engagements by building strong partnerships within elite global legal networks TerraLex and TAG Law, where Gecić Law is an exclusive member. Ognjen was recently appointed to head TerraLex’s Food & Beverage Industry Sector Team.
