Gecic Law Takes Part in “Save Food, Save Humanity” Campaign

Gecić Law Law is proud to have contributed to a very important humanitarian campaign this year through a series of activities. At a ceremony held on October 9, Gecić Law was recognized for its contribution to this year’s National Day of Giving, as well as for participating in the “Let’s save food, let’s save humanity” campaign.

The Gecic Law team, led by Senior Associate Danica Misojcic, contributed to this initiative by providing professional support to the efforts on improving the legal framework for the receipt of donations to Serbia from abroad. As part of this activity, Danica held a notable presentation of the current situation and the main challenges in this field during the session of the Council for Socially Responsible Business of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, held on October 13.

In addition, the Gecic Law team collected a significant quantity of essential foodstuffs, which it donated to the Center for Social Integration of Children and Youth “Zvezda”.

Talented members of the team also demonstrated their skills and creativity in preparing meals from leftovers and products about to expire, thus underlining the problem of food waste.

The Head of Operations at Gecić Law, Hristina Kosec, said: “We are very glad that we participated in this initiative. Contributing to the community in which we work is our strategic commitment and an integral part of our business culture, which we consistently implement. We are pleased that this year, in cooperation with our extraordinary partners, we had the opportunity to provide our humanitarian and professional contribution to this extraordinary activity, which attracted great public attention and helped raise awareness of the problem of food waste and insufficient food donations.”

The campaign “Let’s save food, let’s save humanity ” is implemented as part of the Framework for Giving project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and implemented by the Coalition for Giving, led by the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation. Other members of the Coalition are the Trag Foundation, Catalyst Balkans, SMART Kolektiv, the Serbian Philanthropy Forum, the Responsible Business Forum, and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The National Day of Giving, established based on the initiative of the Serbian Philanthropic Forum and the Coalition, was celebrated for the first time in 2018.
